Living in Enschede

Enschede is one of the nicest student cities in the Netherlands. In 2018, Enschede was voted the best student city to live in. Currently approximately 10,000 students live in Enschede. You can live well on a budget and you will easily find a room. A lot is organised for students, including the many student associations that make up student life. And you are studying in the region where more start-ups and revolutionary ideas are gaining ground than anywhere else in the Netherlands. Who wouldn't want to study here?

Enschede is a friendly city that has a lot to offer. There are large retail chains but also local retailers with nice shops that are worth visiting. You will never be bored as there are numerous student associations, fraternities, clubs, pubs, theatres and museums. In short, a wide variety of options and something for everyone. A nice room is part of that!

Searching for a home via Roomspot is very easy. If you follow these six steps you will have a place for yourself in no time.

Step 1: Register as a home seeker. You can do this if you are 16 years or older. Your registration is free and valid for one year, after which you can renew it.

Step 2: Create a search profile and receive email notifications.

Step 3: Look for a suitable offer - SJHT and De Veste add new homes every day.

Step 4: Respond! If you see a room or apartment that you are interested in, you can respond with one click.

Step 5: Select and view properties. Candidates for apartments and studios are selected on the basis of a registration period or a lottery. For rooms, this is done via ‘hospiteeravonden’. This means that the current residents in the group choose the new resident. If you are invited by the group to come over, you can often view the room immediately. After the evening(s) you will hear whether the room is yours or not.

Step 6: Submit your details, these will be checked and then you can sign the lease.
